■ 에르도안 튀르키예 대통령의 국빈 방한을 환영하며, 수교 70주년을 앞둔 '형제의 나라'와의 전략적 연대 강화를 기대합니다
더불어민주당은 레제프 타이이프 에르도안 튀르키예 대통령의 국빈 방한을 진심으로 환영합니다. 이재명 대통령과 에르도안 대통령의 정상회담은 내년 수교 70주년을 앞두고 양국의 ’전략적 동반자 관계‘를 한 단계 높은 차원으로 도약시키는 계기가 되었습니다.
튀르키예는 한국전쟁 당시 대규모 병력을 보내 자유와 평화를 함께 지켜낸 혈맹이자, 우리 국민이 ’형제의 나라‘로 부르는 각별한 친구 국가입니다. 1957년 수교와 2012년 전략적 동반자 관계 수립 이후 양국은 정치·안보와 경제·문화 전반에 걸쳐 협력의 지평을 넓혀 왔습니다.
오늘 정상회담을 계기로 양국은 에너지, 원전, 핵심 광물, 첨단 과학기술 분야에서 양해각서(MOU)를 채택하며 실질 협력의 토대를 마련했습니다. 이번 합의는 에너지 전환을 위한 협력을 강화하고 우리 기업의 원전 수주 기반을 다지는 한편, 핵심 광물 공급망을 다변화하고 미래 전략산업의 공동 혁신을 이끄는 발판이 될 것입니다. 아울러 양국 정상은 한반도와 중동을 둘러싼 복합적인 지정학적 위기 속에서 역내 평화와 안정을 위한 긴밀한 공조 의지도 재확인했습니다.
유럽과 아시아, 중동을 잇는 전략적 요충지이자 NATO 주요 회원국인 튀르키예와의 협력은 우리 기업의 시장 다변화와 공급망 안정에도 큰 의미가 있습니다. 이번 정상회담의 성과가 실질적인 결실로 이어져, 양국이 함께 성장하는 미래를 열어가기를 기대합니다.
이재명 정부는 국익 중심의 실용외교로 대한민국의 국익을 위해 계속 노력할 것입니다. 더불어민주당은 이번 정상외교의 성과가 국민의 삶과 기업의 현장에서 결실을 맺을 수 있도록 국회 차원의 책임 있는 입법과 정책 지원을 아끼지 않겠습니다.
■ Welcoming President Erdoğan’s State Visit to Korea: Toward Stronger Strategic Solidarity with Our ‘Brother Nation’ Ahead of the 70th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations
The Democratic Party of Korea extends its warmest welcome to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of the Republic of Türkiye on his state visit to the Republic of Korea. Coming ahead of next year’s 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations, the summit between President Lee Jae Myung and President Erdoğan marks a milestone that elevates our bilateral Strategic Partnership to a new level.
Türkiye is a blood-forged ally. During the Korean War, it dispatched a large contingent of brave troops to defend freedom and peace alongside us, earning a special place in the hearts of the Korean people as our cherished ‘brother nation.’ Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1957 and forging a Strategic Partnership in 2012, our two nations have continually expanded the horizons of cooperation across politics, security, the economy, and culture.
On the occasion of today’s summit, the two countries laid the groundwork for substantive cooperation by signing memoranda of understanding(MOUs) in energy, nuclear power, critical minerals, and advanced science and technology. These agreements will strengthen joint efforts toward the energy transition, solidify the foundation for Korean enterprises to secure nuclear power projects, diversify critical mineral supply chains, and drive collaborative innovation across future strategic industries. Furthermore, amidst the complex geopolitical crises confronting the Korean Peninsula and the Middle East, the two leaders reaffirmed their firm commitment to close coordination for regional peace and stability.
As a strategic hub bridging Europe, Asia, and the Middle East and a key member of NATO, cooperation with Türkiye holds vital significance for diversifying markets and safeguarding the resilience of supply chains for Korean businesses. We look forward to the achievements of this summit translating into tangible outcomes that usher in a shared future of mutual prosperity.
The Lee Jae-myung administration will continue to advance Korea’s interests through pragmatic diplomacy. The Democratic Party of Korea will spare no legislative or policy support in the National Assembly to ensure that the fruits of this summit enrich the lives of our people and invigorate our businesses on the ground.
